St Joseph County ABATE's Donation to YWCA of St Joseph County

On December 8th St Joe County had it's final event (a food drove)
before it presented our labors to the YWCA. On the 19th all was
ready and several of the Officers headed out to complete what we had
started back in September. When we got to the YWCA Shelter we didn't know what to expect, neither did they! As we waited we could hear the sounds of children playing down the halls, kinda unexpected. We met with a few of the executives and let them know what was up, then gave them our check. They also let us know their situation. Seems that they had planned for 50 children this year and had over 160 in house. We really wish we could have done more. You could tell that there was a certain amount of dedication to helping those in need. In addition to giving shelter to Woman and Children who have been abused, they also spend time doing counseling. They were able to show us a letter that was placed under the office door form one of the kids, "Thank You for making my Mommy Smile". We were pleased to make the donation of $1316.25 along with some more food and books, knowing that it would help people truly in need. -English Mike |
